Overland Park Photography

Overland Park Sunset

My love for photography started around the age of seven.  I used to chase Oklahoma sunsets and take pictures of clouds, flowers and open sky.  My grandmother’s rural farm provided the perfect scene for my blooming love for landscape photography.  It was the beginning of a love affair with the beauty of nature and the unabated freedom it gave me.  I guess you could say landscape photography was my first love.  Now that I have transitioned into portrait photography, I love balancing my work between people and nature.  Taking pictures of people reminds me of the love and gift of human life.  When I escape into nature by myself and my camera, I am reminded of simplicity and of the gifts creation bestows upon us as humans.  It’s a beautiful mix and both people and nature are connected.  That’s why I love photographing my subjects outside.  It’s the best of both worlds.  It’s natural, simple and brings two beautiful realms of existence into one.

I find a simple peace and thankfulness come over me when I photograph natural scenes.  It reminds me to slow down, breathe it all in and enjoy the day at hand.  Despite only having my main portrait lens with me the other evening, I would have to say it didn’t fair too bad in capturing some landscape scenes.  I am a wide angle lens girl at heart, but on this night I didn’t tote it along.

Welcome

Welcome to my blog where I love to showcase my latest work.  As an artist and portrait historian, my goal is that each session depicts the warmth, love and light reflected in my subjects.  All sessions take place in natural light, whether it's the golden hour over the gulf or the soft glow of an early dawn, its my personal goal to find each client the best and most ideal conditions for their photographs.
